Jean Bathke is a Certified Massage Therapist specializing in injury rehabilitation, pain management, athletic training massage, and pregnancy/postpartum bodywork. She received over 600 hours of education and training from Cascade Institute of Massage and Body Therapies in Eugene, Or., becoming certified in 1999. Returning to California, Jean then studied Aquatic Bodywork and earned certification as a Watsu (water-shiatsu) practitioner in 2000.
Jean's approach to bodywork is gentle and strong; she works slowly, which encourages the muscles to drop any resistance or protection mechanisms in place. This in turn allows the body to more fully integrate and benefit from the massage, as well as from any concurrent athletic training or injury rehab therapies. Living and working in Santa Cruz, Ca., Jean has served the community for nine years in private practice as well as in health care settings. She is pleased to now extend her service and practice to include the Bay Area as well.
Jean is also an avid swimmer, with a background in art and textiles. She holds a bachelors degree in American Studies from U.C. Santa Cruz.
